Housing Complex
Cleveland, Ohio

Design Overview
Modular housing that accommodates residential ideals while alluring pedestrians to the public spaces below.
Program and Circulation
The housing complex consists of a public lobby, cafe, and retail shop on the first floor and a series of unit apartments on the second and third floor. In this model, wooden materials represent public spaces while white material represents private. Vertical circulation is placed in the central core to reduce the distance to and from each apartment. The central core ascends to the accessible rooftop indicated in white. The sizable cantilever creates shelter over the entrance of the retail shop and cafe. The accessible rooftop and apartment units face the nearby river to optimize views outward and natural light inward. Deep mullions act as a vertical louver to block unwanted sunlight and views from the street. A private entrance for apartment residents is available in the west end.
